چکیده

Network service provisioning involves the control of network resources through signaling, routing and management protocols that achieve Quality of Service and Traffic Engineering objectives. Network service providers are typically faced with scalability problems due to the explosion in network size and demand. In this paper we propose a new hierarchical distributed protocol (HDP) for the provisioning of MPLS-based tunnels. The protocol encapsulates the required signaling and routing functionality to share network resources among services. The protocol alleviates the scalability problem through extending the current two-tier architecture of the Internet to a multi-level hierarchical one. It enables mechanisms for Quality of Service, and intraand inter-domain Traffic Engineering. Analytical analysis and simulation results show that the protocol exploits parallelism in routing computation to reduce the setup time of an MPLS path. This comes at the expense of an increased message complexity relative to other hierarchical protocols.

A Resilient Path Management for BGP/MPLS VPN

BGP/MPLS VPN is recently receiving much attention from industries and standard bodies. It enables ISP to provide IP-service with QoS guarantee to the customers over shared MPLS backbone. In this paper, we present a resilient path management mechanism for BGP/MPLS VPN. An existence condition for finding fast backup path which satisfies the resilience constraint is derived for a full mesh BGP/MPL...

Network Working Group Crankback Signaling Extensions for Mpls and Gmpls Rsvp-te Status of This Memo

In a distributed, constraint-based routing environment, the information used to compute a path may be out of date. This means that Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Generalized MPLS (GMPLS) Traffic Engineered (TE) Label Switched Path (LSP) setup requests may be blocked by links or nodes without sufficient resources. Crankback is a scheme whereby setup failure information is returned from...

The Application of the Path Computation Element Architecture to the Determination of a Sequence of Domains in MPLS and GMPLS

Computing optimum routes for Label Switched Paths (LSPs) across multiple domains in MPLS Traffic Engineering (MPLS-TE) and GMPLS networks presents a problem because no single point of path computation is aware of all of the links and resources in each domain. A solution may be achieved using the Path Computation Element (PCE) architecture. Where the sequence of domains is known a priori, variou...

Generic Connection Admission Control (GCAC) Algorithm Specification for IP/MPLS Networks

This document presents a generic connection admission control (GCAC) reference model and algorithm for IP-/MPLS-based networks. Service provider (SP) IP/MPLS networks need an MPLS GCAC mechanism, as one motivational example, to reject Voice over IP (VoIP) calls when additional calls would adversely affect calls already in progress. Without MPLS GCAC, connections on congested links will suffer d...

Performance Analysis about the Failure Restoration Scheme Using a Multi-path in Hierarchical MPLS Networks

Various technologies about multi-path calculation for extensibility and failure restoration have been suggested as an increasing demand for QoS in MPLS networks. However, the MPLS networks have problems in extensibility for network traffic, failure restoration that waste usage of resources and much delay. Thus, we propose to H-MPLS networks recover failure in networks fast and support efficient...
